Joss Albone
BSc Honours Degree in Psychotherapeutic Humanistic Counselling (MBACP)
I practise integrative, humanistic counselling, deeply rooted in the core values of the person-centred approach. My aim is to create an environment of non-judgement and acceptance, offering my clients a nurturing and empathetic space where they feel safe to explore their inner experiences and foster personal growth. I trust in my clients innate capacity for self-understanding and growth, and I am committed to meeting you exactly where you are in your journey towards healing and self-actualization. I will work relationally with my clients, meaning I believe strongly in the importance of the client counsellor relationship, this can act as a mirror for what happens in the clients relationships outside of the therapy room.
In my approach, I see the importance between the profound interplay of our thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations. I believe that our bodies serve as a vessel for our inner experiences, and being in tune ith our physical and emotional selves can lead to profound insights and healing. I will work with my clients to explore their bodily sensations, embrace the present moment and build an awareness of their thoughts, physicality and energy. I work with the breath and nervous system to harness calm and mindful awareness.
I am an integrative, humanistic counsellor. My work is essentially underpinned by person- centred values, offering clients a safe, warm and non-judgemental space that encourages exploration and growth. Should I work with you, I will meet you where you are, in your current experience with the belief that you know yourself best. I also believe you possess the innate ability to become the best version of yourself.
Before qualifying as a counsellor, I worked for schools, local authorities and charities supporting vulnerable people with challenging life experiences, such as homelessness, addiction and family breakdowns. These roles helped me develop my belief in the power of the individual, and the interpersonal skills to enable me to support people with support, compassion and empathy.
Within my counselling, I am particularly interested in how we relate to our bodies and the effect this can have on our well-being. Thoughts and feelings are stored within the body and can manifest as physical sensation. Based on this principle, I would work to encourage a deeper exploration of your world and how you connect with feelings and sensation, making sense of your world through your body in the therapy room.
